Good Morning –
Today is the second Sunday of Lent – and we continue our Lenten journey toward the cross and the tomb! Lent is a time when we reflect upon the life, death and resurrection of Jesus … and take time to reflect upon the changes that we can make in our own lives to draw us closer in relationship with God, each other and with the wider world in which we live.
As mentioned, there are a couple of differences that you will notice in the order of worship. The first is that there are two readings from the Psalms. The first from the penitential psalms that will be toward the beginning of worship and the second a joyful psalm that will be read toward the end of our service – as a reminder that the story of Easter does not end at the cross – but offers a new beginning through the resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Again this week there we have the 2 Psalms set to music by the pastoral musician Jason Silver, who has put each of the psalms to music.
Psalm 91 – Praise the Name of the Lord – Jason Silver
This week I have selected two hymns that capture, in different ways, the assurance that permeates psalm 91.
Announcements:
Public worship: Public Worship remains cancelled. This decision will be revisited at out next meeting of Session which will be held on March 12th.
Annual Meeting: The date for the Annual Meeting has been set for March 14th. Today, in another e-mail you will receive the annual report as well as directions concerning how to connect to the meeting. Please reach out if you have questions.
Preparing for Easter: The Study groups have begun meeting on Wednesday evenings. We ask that you hold those who are participating in your prayers.
Staying Connected: We are all connected, and we will be stronger & healthier when we are intentional in nurturing our relationships with one another. So I encourage you to connect to people for conversation and companionship. Even a short conversation will lift the spirit of the person you call … and miraculously, it will lift your spirits as well!
Blessings,
Patrick
